Dear Sima,

I deeply regret that I am unable to attend the opening reception of your exhibition in New York.

We are presently in the midst of tense and uncertain days, when winter winds and gloomy skies accompany the winds of war blowing over our stormy world.

Especially in days such as these, it is important to keep on creating art and to be inspired by works of art in general, and from your images that depict portraits of leaders, artists and others from an especially unique outlook in particular.

Your eye, through your lens, captures in such an intriguing way moments of beauty and lines of character embedded in hidden obscurity in man's inner being.

I wish for the observers of your exhibition the same enjoyment that I derived from the unique and interesting vision that you successfully conveyed from the ordinary to the most remote regions.

As we say in Hebrew, "Yishar Koach", May the force's blessing be with you.

Shimon Peres
